Susan has been an animal lover of all types for as long as she can remember.  Throughout most of her adult life, Susan has volunteered at many animal rescues where she has had the joy of taking care of cats, dogs, birds, and fish!.  She has also volunteered at the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) at the horse stables for the past four years.  Susan currently has 4 dogs (Max - 7 yr old cattle dog mix, Ammi - 6 year old terrier mix, Pepe - 13 year old long haired chihuahua, and…9 month old Sadie shepherd mix) and one needy 15 year old cat named Shadow.  Susan was in the military for seven years and met her husband, Jon, while stationed in Vicenza, Italy.  Susan and Jon have two adopted daughters who were babies when they were adopted from Guatemala.  She has worked at UCHealth Memorial Hospital remotely as a full-time medical coder for the past 18 years.  Susan recently realized that she wanted to learn more about animals so she enrolled in the Veterinary Assistant program at PIMA. After completing her externship at Carefree Cats, Susan was hired on and currently works one day a week in the reception area.  In her spare time, Susan loves going to cooking classes, traveling, and working in the garden.
