Dr. Donaggio

Dr. Donaggio is a native of Virginia. Since joining the veterinary industry in 2009, she has worked as a Professional Pet-Sitter, Veterinary Technician, and Parasitology Laboratory Technician among other roles. She has had the pleasure of working with a variety of species from dogs and cats to small pocket pet mammals, horses, swine, livestock and poultry, as well as a range of wildlife species, notably raccoons and black bears. She attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University where she earned two Bachelor Degrees in Animal and Poultry Science and Biology. Attending Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Donaggio earned her Master of Public Health in Infectious Disease with her thesis work in Lyme disease. Her academic journey led her to the “Loveliest Village in the Plains,” Auburn, Alabama; she earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine.

Prior to joining Carefree Cats Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Donaggio worked as an emergency veterinarian while providing relief work at CFCVH and other veterinary clinics, partaking in seasonal work with livestock. 

Dr. Donaggio is a Fear Free Level 2 Certified Veterinarian and a member of the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society, American Association of Feline Practitioners,  American Veterinary Medical Association, Colorado Veterinary Medical Association,  and Virginia Veterinary Medical Association. 

Her professional interests include: feline medicine, emergency and critical care, canine and feline behavior, neurology, oncology, toxicology, and infectious diseases. In her spare time Dr. Donaggio loves to travel, garden, cook, play with cattle and big dogs, and come home to her two furry feline children.
