About Us

Who we are and why we’re here!

Created by Cat Lovers.
Cultivated for Cats.

Originally established by Dr. Gene Pollard (now retired), Carefree Cats has focused on providing your cats with the best medical and surgical care available. We all have cats of our own and have always maintained that cats are very special energy beings and deserve special handling and care.

Our ultimate concern is to make your cat’s visit to our hospital as comfortable and stress-free as humanely possible. Each of your cats are evaluated as an individual and their treatments are customized for their specific needs. And, if we find your cat is upset or anxious about their visit, we recommend aborting the visit and trying again with the help of our stress-free protocols. You’ll never see your cat scruffed and stretched to complete needed procedures.

No smell. No barks. Stress-free.

We understand that taking your cat to the vet can be a stressful experience – especially when there are other animals present. So, we have designed our practice to reduce as much stress as possible, and focus purely on providing exceptional care for cats. No Dogs Allowed at our practice.

We have a team of people who are totally cat-oriented. This makes for a lower stress environment, where we can provide your cat truly exceptional care. In fact, we were designated a Gold Level Cat Friendly Practice by the American Association of Feline Practitioners.

We’re all about cats.

To become designated as a Cat Friendly Practice, Carefree Cats has proven we’ve taken extra steps to assure we understand your cat’s unique needs, have implemented feline-friendly standards, and have made changes to decrease stress and provide a more calming environment, such as stress-free handling and comfortable exam rooms.

Our veterinary staff has also been trained in feline-friendly handling and understanding cat behavior in order to increase the quality of care for your cat.

Our Team

Friendly, gentle people who love cats.

Dr. Amanda Whited, DVM

Dr. Amanda Whited had the pleasure of being born into a cat-loving household, and has owned, cared for, and studied cats since she was a small child.  After realizing her dream of becoming a veterinarian when she was 5 years old, she finally achieved her goals in 2014, when she graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine with highest honors.  Prior to vet school, she worked as a veterinary technician for 10 years, and learned much about gentle handling and calming techniques required to work safely and successfully with felines.  She has special interests in feline surgery and dentistry, and is constantly working to hone her skills in these areas.  She currently is owned by three cats, named Louis, Carmen, and McCoy – who kindly tolerate her presence as well as that of her two dogs
